Punjab were beaten badly by Deccans and the play off maths was simplified yesterday. A superb innings of 95 not out by Dhawan and superb leg spin bowling by Amit Mishra ( 4 for 9 ) brought home the bacon for Deccans.
Now Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkotta and Bangalore are into the play offs. Mumbai were delighted, as their match against Kolkotta is less tense as now it is only a match for them to finish at the top two.
Now the question is who will finish at the top, as grabbing the top two slots will give the teams a lifeline as an extra match to enter the final.
On Sunday there are two great matches, as Bangalore take on Chennai and Mumbai face Kolkotta. and these matches will decide the play offs.
If Mumbai wins and Bangalore loses, they will reach the second spot.
If Mumbai lose, they will finish fourth
For Chennai and Bangalore, a win will see to that they finish at the top and a loss could see them at the fourth or third place.
Delhi finished at the bottom of the IPL Points Table,as their last league match against Pune was washed out. Both have nine points and Delhities with four wins and nine defeats, finished tenth due to their poor run rate. Pune finished ninth.
DDD were 56/3 in 10.1 overs when rain stopped play at the Delhi stadium.
The match was actually insignificant, but people turned out in large numbers to watch two mediocre teams vie for supremacy.
