Brand Value of IPL goes down by $ 460 million !

It is the only Religion which unites India. It is a national integrator. It is a Religion with no caste. Cricketers like Gavaskar, Lara, Sachin, Kallis, Clive Lloyd have proved that Cricket is a gentleman's game. But then there is a negative aspect - spot fixing and ball tampering by some unscrupulous players have spoiled the name of the game !

Cronje and Azhar devastated cricket and soon doubts of corruption cast its ugly shadow over IPL.

Brand Finance, which valued IPL as a $4.13 billion dollar brand, has now devalued it at $3.67 billion, a loss of $460 million !

To give a chance for local players to play along with international stars was a dream come true and BCCI meant it as such.

In 2008, when IPL was launched, BCCI amassed $ 2 billion as franchise fees and as TV rights . The efficient IPL Commissioner was sacked on suspicious grounds.

One of India's fastest growing commercial brands, IPL faces a big challenge. But then, it is a matter of time till it regains its value !
