BCCI and the IPL Governing Council approved this name.
The fanbase of Kochi became angry at the name Indi Commandoes and due to pressure from the fans, the name was changed to the present name.
Ex Minister Shashi Tharoor had also suggested this name.
Tuskers are elephants and elephant is more or less the national animal of Kerala. Kerala hosts the biggest elephant sanctuary at Guruvayur, with more than 62 tuskers.
Good name and we expect a good performance from the Kochi Tuskers.
